What is Emoji Art?

Emoji Art is a free tool that turns your photos into mosaic art built entirely out of emoji. It runs completely in your browser – your images are never uploaded or stored anywhere.

How do I create my own emoji art?

Go to the Home page, upload an image, adjust the settings (columns, emoji size, tolerance) and hit "Generate Emoji Art". You can also choose from a palette of emojis.

Can I use the generated art anywhere?

Absolutely! You can download the mosaic as a PNG image or copy the text‑based emoji art and paste it into social media, chats, or anywhere you like.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything happens in your web browser. No software to install, no plugins required.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The generator works entirely on your device. Your image is not sent to any server. The only data that may be stored are the emoji artworks that you voluntarily submit to the public gallery.

How does the matching work?

The generator divides your image into a grid of small cells, calculates the average colour of each cell, and then picks the emoji from the selected set whose average colour is closest. This is done using the CIE Lab colour space for perceptual accuracy.

Why do some emojis look different on my phone?

Emojis are rendered by your device’s operating system. Different systems (iOS, Android, Windows) have slightly different emoji designs, so the same emoji may appear slightly different in colour or shape.
